Our Beginners–Grade 1 piano classes (ages 5–16) are built on a carefully structured pedagogy that develops strong musical foundations from the very beginning. Through a comprehensive, structured and engaging curriculum, students develop excellent technique, confident musicianship, and a genuine love of music that lasts. As students enjoy the lessons, build confidence and see their progress, they become naturally motivated to practise at home without any pressure. That's one of the reasons many of our students seem to progress so quickly.
Students develop sight-reading, theory, rhythm, technique, scales and arpeggios, improvisation, composition, aural skills, articulation, dynamics, expressive playing, and more - all taught in a clearand carefully structured sequence.
Students also learn and perform many pieces across a broad range of repertoire, progressing from beginner pieces to works by Mozart, Bartók, Bach, Gurlitt, Czerny, Köhler, Beethoven, Kunz, and more, ensuring depth and well-rounded musical development.
Every child learns differently, and we truly believe every student should be free to learn and thrive at their own pace. That's why our unique approach combines a structured, progressive curriculum yet with the built-in flexibility to support individual learning style, pace and needs. There's no pressure to keep up with others.
Parents can see how their child is progressing every step of the way. Our learning pathway breaks progress into clear milestones, so you'll always know what your child has achieved, what they'relearning now, and what comes next. No guessing - just visible, steady, meaningful progress.
Because students fully understand concepts during lessons and have clear goals to work towards, home practice becomes productive reinforcement rather than confusion or guesswork. Students build good practice habits through thoughtfully designed lessons with clear, trackable progress.
Weekly ensemble playing, composition, and twice-yearly recitals help students develop confidence, creativity, musical understanding, listening skills, sight-reading, teamwork, and independence. Regular opportunities to perform allow students to celebrate their progress, share their achievements, and stay motivated to keep growing.
Weekly 60-minute lessons allow students to coverfar more material, benefit from deeper learning, develop multiple musical skills, and make clear, meaningful progress every week compared with shorter lessons.
Once complete, students transition to Piano: Grade 1-8 program, they transitionseamlessly into our Grade 1–8 programme and can prepare for major examination boards including ABRSM, Trinity, and RCM. Many go on to achieve Distinctions and Merits.

Below are answers to some of our most commonly asked questions. We also encourage all parents to read our Studio Policy Agreement carefully when enrolling. It forms a binding agreement between the studio and parent/guardian, ensuring everything is in place for a smooth, enjoyable and successful learning experience, helping achieve the best possible outcomes for your child's musical journey ✨
Age 5 is a general guide, but every child is different. During the Intro Lesson, we assess readiness based on factors such as maturity, attention span, and physical development. We welcome complete beginners as well as children with previous musical experience.
Beginners lessons are 60 minutes. Lessons in our Grade 1–8 programme are either 30 or 60 minutes, depending on the student's level, goals, and individual needs. In addition to each student's regular weekly lesson, we also offer PAYG top-up lessons when needed, for example for extra exam preparation or additional support.
At least 20–30 minutes, 4 times per week. From Grade 2 onwards, we typically expect around 1 hour of daily practice. Consistent practice is one of the biggest factors in a student's success, alongside regular lesson attendance, a good practice routine, and parent support. Like any skill, the more your child practises, the more they will progress and enjoy seeing their improvement.
Every child progresses at their own individual pace. Most students complete our beginners programme in 18–24 months, reaching approximately Grade 1–2 standard. Regular home practice and consistent attendance have the greatest impact on progress.
Many parents underestimate how much is involved in learning an instrument. In addition to exam pieces, we ensure our students are also taught a broad repertoire, develop strong sight-reading, technique, theory, creativity and more. Our comprehensive, holistic approach develops confident, independent pianists with skills for life.
While many students take ABRSM grades and do brilliantly, some simply play for the love of it. We build the path around your child's goals.
Yes, students are encouraged to take part in our recitals and care home performances, building confidence and stage presence in a warm, supportive environment. For those who choose to enter music festivals and competitions, we provide specialist coaching to help them perform at their best. Our students have won medals, trophies, awards, honours and prizes.
Missed lessons are not refunded or rescheduled, even with advance notice. Your child's lesson time is reserved exclusively for them each week, and our teachers are paid to reserve that time in advance. As our timetable is full with a waiting list, missed lessons cannot be reallocated. Regular attendance is key to steady progress, which is why we follow Bromley school term dates to help families plan ahead. Please read our Studio Policy Agreement for full details.
