Our much-loved Summer and Winter Recitals, held every June and November, offer a fun and relaxed way for students to share what they’ve been working on, including their own compositions. These performances are a core part of our program, helping to build confidence and valuable life skills. They provide students with the chance to move from practicing at home to performing in a real concert setting. We’ve had students perform after just four lessons! It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner - we want all our students to have a go at performing! After each concert, we serve refreshments so everyone can mingle and enjoy the moment. We’d love to see you at our next event!
November 2024 - Emi Piano Studio hosted a successful Winter Recital, showcasing students' progress from children’s folk songs to classical pieces by Mozart, Beethoven, and Grieg. Performances included both solos and duets, reflecting their growth and dedication. Emi Piano Studio’s founder also performed Nessun Dorma by Puccini, adding a special touch.
The event celebrated musical achievement, with students sharing their passion with family, friends, and fellow musicians. Guests enjoyed tea, coffee, and delicious cakes from local bakery Cutie Bites.
Piano Recital Tips for Students and Parents
Choose your pieces: Discuss with me which pieces you can play confidently. Choose pieces you have played previously.
Practice Regularly: Set a consistent practice schedule leading up to the recital. Focus on mastering your piece, but also enjoy the music! The more often you perform, the easier it becomes over time.
Visualise Success: Take a moment to imagine yourself performing confidently. Picture the applause and the joy of sharing your music.
Learn by Heart (optional): For the more advanced students, practice performing without the score. At the end of a session, try to play through the piece from memory. Identify tricky sections to focus on in your next practice.
Dress code - Formal attire: Boys/Men: Smart trousers and collared shirts (suit jacket, waistcoat, bowtie, or tie optional).
Girls/Ladies: Knee-length skirts, dresses, or smart trousers.
Please avoid: T-shirts (especially with printed logos), Jeans, shorts, joggers, tracksuits, or mini-skirts, flip-flops or trainers.
Get a Good Night’s Sleep: Rest is crucial for focus and performance.
Eat a Healthy Meal: Fuel up with a nutritious breakfast.
Stay Hydrated.
Keep It Mellow: Avoid excessive activities; enjoy dressing up and listening to others.
Keep Nails Short: Trim nails, and no false nails for ladies.
Don’t Practice Excessively: Review your piece to prepare, but avoid overdoing it.
Pack Essentials: Bring your music, a water bottle, and a small snack.
Dress Comfortably: Choose something that makes you feel good and is appropriate for the occasion.

Visualise Success: Look forward to your turn and enjoy the performance!
Respect the venue and the grand piano
Be Attentive: Listen during others’ performances and show appreciation with applause!
